Welcome to Bepassersby.net. This site reflects my beliefs in Christianity, Christian mysticism, spirituality, and Yeshua. The name of the site comes from the Gospel of Thomas, saying # 42: Jesus said, “Be passersby.” My interpretation of this statement is that Yeshua (Jesus) is telling us that our stay here is temporary, so don’t get too attached to anything. Be like “passersby” who may stop for a bit, but will then continue on their way, taking nothing with them but their memories of their visit.
In this site you will find various topics that I have written short (sometimes very short) essays on, as well as links to some outstanding work by others on a similar journey as mine. Additional links include information on early Christianity, the Gospel of Thomas, early Christian writings, spirituality, other religions, and Christian mysticism.
Please note that throughout this site, anything written by me will refer to Jesus as Yeshua and “God” will have quotes around it. The quotes signify that “God” is many things to many people, and that “God” without quotes tends to put a certain picture in one’s mind, based on one’s faith and background. Since no one really knows what “God” looks like, I put “God” in quotes.
So, with that out of the way, grab a cup of tea, sit back, and enjoy your exploring! And check back from time to time, as the site is under constant construction, just like me.
And please check out Thursdays With Death, the first five chapters of my first book about Lanny Stone, a man who learns from the Angel of Death about spiritual life, the truth about death and the importance of Krispy Kreme doughnuts!
